Just got back from a weekend of wedding package shopping for my siter-in-law Miran (pictures here). We spent the weekend in a suite at the Venetian hotel/resort. The price per night was $350, which covered four adults, two queen sized beds, and an adjacent living room area.
For a $700 weekend, here are my disappointments:
1. The two beds shared one sleeping area. When someone says 'suite' to me, I expect two sleeping areas/bedrooms.
2. The mattresses were lame. Very mushy. For $700, at least give me a mid-level Sealy.
3. The view was poor. A room at that price should at least have a decent view.
4. The health club will cost you $30 per day per guest. How could that not be included in the price of your visit. Sheesh.
The two bright spots:
1. In-room high speed ethernet, using DHCP, which worked well and reliably.
2. The Manet exhibit, while small, was excellent. The self-guided audio tour was wonderful, and the pieces on display were beautiful.
All-in-all, I thought that what we got for what we paid was far below expectations. Next time round, I would choose to stay in a lower cost room, near the strip, and visit the larger hotels for what they have to offer.
