Before I begin I'd like to set something straight:
my goal here is neither to bore nor sedate.
although It took me three months to come up with this ryhme,
fortunately for you I'll be done in no time.
Now tradition dictates that I start with the bride,
a rule by which I will happily abide.
Kelly's smile brightens the room each time she appears,
with a warmth and a joy that's grown with the years.
But I'm sure it was really her intellect and wit
that finally convinced Matt it was time to commit.
I know Matt will be happy he has Kelly around
each time she helps keep his feet on the ground.
As for Matt who'm I've known for quite a long while,
I sometimes thought he'd never walk down that aisle.
But I suppose he had come to a point in his life
where he no longer felt odd calling someone his wife.
Or perhaps Matt was just doing as Romans have done,
trying to prevent Kelly from spoiling the fun.
Yet my intent is not to make light of the reason
as we've all seen their love grow with each season.
I'm sure this was brought on by things more profound
then Kelly wondering how her new name might sound.
In the end there are few words I can use to relate
what it's like seeing someone marry my prom date.
Now we're 'bout to partake in this bountiful spread,
so lets pause to give thanks before we get fed.
To Judiann and Mel who brought us the bride,
two wonderful hosts who should be beaming with pride.
Our thanks to Mirian and Dan are no less sincere,
who's rehersal last night was without peer.
So let's all raise our glasses to praise and to toast
the two people that we should envy the most.
To Kelly and Matt, may your journey be bright
and marked by a love with no end in sight.
But as you get on with your marital living,
let's hope Kelly is patient and very forgiving.
